“Goodnight, Elliot,” she said softly before she slipped into the spare room and closed the door behind her.
He didn’t move for the other door until well after she’d gone into her own room. He knew he’d had to say something to her, but having done so, he didn’t really feel any better at all. Finally he went into the other guest room and sank down to sit at the edge of the bed, though he didn’t lie down. He needed to sleep, he knew, but he wasn’t sure what kinds of thoughts were waiting to plague him in his subconcsious.
