She bit her lip and looked up at him carefully. “Ryan … have you … been happy with me at all since we got back together?” she asked quietly.
His expression clouded as her question sank in, more out of confusion that she would ask than anything else. “Yes,” he replied, nodding. “I… I was,” he told her. He didn’t remember when he’d stopped being happy. But he knew he had been. “For a while.”
