She nodded and sighed, crossing her arms and leaning with her hip against the desk, concern evident in her eyes. “I guess that makes sense,” she said. “I just… I guess I’m surprised you’re working yourself really hard,” she added. 

“I have to play this year,” he said simply, looking over at her. “I can’t miss out on another season.”
