She closed her eyes and sighed out when she felt his lips on her forehead, reaching out to put her hands on his sides, needing to touch him more than anything else. “I love you,” she whispered, the words gentle and vulnerable. She couldn’t remember them being so heavy. She’d always been honest and had always meant it, but now more than any other time, she needed him to know.
He tilted his head down then and his eyes shut. His hands raised to cup her cheeks gently, his forehead coming to rest on hers. “It’s never going to change, is it?” he asked quietly, though it wasn’t a question about her feelings so much as a reflection on his own. “It’s always going to be… You.”
