“No, god no,” she frowned, shaking her head and sighing. “I meant … well, it’s not like I can just go over to your place to see you, you know?” she pointed out quietly. “If you needed me, I couldn’t just come over and stay or … just be there to support you because of your dad.”
“He doesn’t care that we’re friends,” he reminded her quietly, though a familiar flicker of guilt stirred somewhere inside. He’d been going to tell his dad. He had wanted to tell him a long time ago. He knew it wasn’t fair to go on like this, but something was holding him back.
