Part 13 - Mo’ Reflection:
Where (and when) did they grow up?
- Ryan’s lived in Tree Hill all his life.
How did they view it as a child, and did that change as they matured?
- When he was a kid, a small town seemed to be the perfect setting. Having people around that knew him, and that he knew, provided him with a sort of support system he likely wouldn’t have had in a bigger town. He always really liked Tree Hill and never really thought about what was beyond it.
- As he grew older, and particularly when he found out about his mother, he started to see the flaws of the small town. Privacy is practically non-existant, and mistakes follow you around. Primarily, if you make the wrong sort of friendships you get stuck in them, and there’s very little room to maneuver with respect to who you know and who knows you. Going to Raleigh for university was a welcome change.
How do they feel about the place now?
- Ryan doesn’t really mind living in Tree Hill anymore. It is his home, and it’s all he knows. The most important people in his world are from there, and exist around there. But a lot of the time he wishes things were different, and that’s as much to do with the town as the people in it.
