Part 12 - Memories
Describe their best and worst memories from childhood.
- WORST: Ryan’s worst childhood memory is of a fight between his dad and his brother. Owen had come home pretty drunk, and he and Robert had ended up getting into it. It was one of the nights that Ryan hadn’t been able to sleep well to begin with, and while he was young enough it was past his bed time, he certainly didn’t sleep through it. He remembers actually coming out of his room, though he didn’t go farther than the top of the stairs and doesn’t think either of them knew he was listening. He doesn’t remember what they were fighting about, though he does remember hearing one of them say his name (though he could have just imagined that part, or be remembering it wrong). He never told either of them that he’d overheard it.
- BEST: Ryan’s best childhood memory isn’t one day in particular; instead, it’s really any one day that he spent just hanging out with Owen. When he got older he started to feel this strange sort of disconnect, given the age difference between himself and his brother, and the best days were the ones where they’d just hang out and be brothers, without the shadow of their looming father.
