“As I’m starting to figure out,” she teased with a laugh. “Do you go to bed at ten o’clock every night too?” she said, grinning widely and laughing a little more.
“Yeah,” she sighed and looked back out in front of her, a frown persisting on her features. “I’m sorry you went through that anyway, though. I really am.”
“Nine fifty-eight, actually,” he laughed. “Ten is too late for me,” he shook his head. He didn’t remember the last time he’d gone to bed that early, in fact.
“It… I am too,” he told her honestly, looking down at his hands and grasping them together to stop them from trembling. “I guess it just… Stuff happens,” he shrugged. “I just… You’re not alone in it.”
