“Especially in this town,” she added after a beat, linking her fingers together. “At least it seems like it, but I could be wrong.” she added. Sure, she was growing to love Tree Hill again, but she definitely had noticed that sort of thing happening.
She shrugged. “I … don’t want to talk about him, honestly. I’m sorry I brought him up,” she said with a little laugh. “It was just … really irritating for him to pull that when he didn’t care to begin with and my friendship with Cory isn’t that way.”
“Especially,” he echoed, knowing she was right. There wasn’t much privacy in a town like Tree Hill. People didn’t like to allow it. “Must be hard for you here. I’m sure people are knocking down your door looking for skeletons,” he rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, I…” he trailed off, nothing coming to mind to say, so dropping the topic altogether. “It’s always hard to find out someone you care about is moving on,” he said instead, turning his gaze to look out over the river. “With someone… not you,” he added with a sigh, and then paused, shaking his head. “You just said you didn’t want to talk about this, and here I keep going,” he said with a bit of a wry laugh. “Sorry.”
