She laughed. “Well, yeah, obviously. I’d like to think you don’t sit around and take bets about girls you barely know,” she said, her tone light as she grinned gently.
She nodded slowly. “Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, you don’t want to be the one putting in all the effort to see them when they could just as easily come and see you. I definitely get it for sure. It’s like … friendship is a two way street.”
“Hey, you don’t know what I do in my free time,” he joked. He was pretty sure she wouldn’t ever seriously believe it, and felt pretty safe in making the joke.
“Yeah,” he nodded. “It’s not really as bad as I make it sound,” he told her with a bit of a laugh. “At least not always. It just kind of all piles up with some people,” he shrugged. He had a feeling that she understood that, that she could relate.
