“It’s alright,” Owen said, making it sound easier than it really had been for him. “It happens. I mean, when you get into this profession, it happens sometimes,” he said quietly, before he glanced over at Ryan and shrugged all. “I don’t know, I did a pretty good job of it, except for when I’d come home to see you.”
His brother didn't seem too torn up about it, so it was easy enough for Ryan to accept what he was saying and move past it. “Yeah, I guess that makes sense. You’re okay though, right?” he asked, just to check. You never really could tell with some people. “Yeah,” he said, and a touch of almost forced laughter came out with his words, “but she has two parents, and neither of them are Dad.”
